The way we make learning visible

Noticing Robert’s interest.

Strand four, communication. Children experience an environment where they develop verbal communication skills for a range of purposes (MOE, 1996)
Learning experience – music

Today, at the musical room, the children step up on the stage and enjoy the rhythm of music and movement. What a great time! The children were happy and excited. The “party” started with two boys (Robert and Eli). A few minutes later some of the children wanted to climb up to the stage too. There were  also children and teachers dancing in front of the stage too. Creative experiences in music and movement serve two major purposes. First, they meet the needs of the whole child: physically, socially, emotional, cognitively, creatively, and in the area of language. Second, they help integrate and enrich the early childhood curriculum (Schirrmacher & Fox, 2009, p. 54).

“Early interaction with music positively affects the quality of children’s lives” (Schirrmacher & Fox, 2009, p. 53).
